Gator Alert: Several Updates For This Week

Gator Families,

As we gear up for our meet this Saturday against our cross-town rivals in Green Valley, we wanted to provide some exciting updates for you regarding our last meet, our first broken record this season, and the latest regarding our mask policy for coaches - plus, a sneak peak at our July meet expectations!

  • Previous Meet:  Last weekend we started our dual meet season by virtually challenging Harbor View, the largest and toughest team in the league! The results are in and can be found here: https://www.greenbrookgators.org/swim-meet-results
    • We had a great showing and saw many time improvements! Great job Gators – ribbons will be available in the family folders starting tomorrow!

  • Record Breaker:  Congratulations to our newest Record Breaker, Peyton Sherwood! Peyton broke the 15-18 women’s 50 breaststroke record with a time of 32.05 in our Green and Gold meet. Such a great accomplishment, congratulations!! You can see this record, as well as all of our team records here: https://www.greenbrookgators.org/team-records

  • Summer Practice Schedule:  As the school year winds down, our practice schedule shifts to morning practices, effective June 28th! Please be sure you check the summer practice schedule so you know what time your group starts! The practice schedule is available here: https://www.greenbrookgators.org/practice-schedule

  • Coaches Mask Update:  Today, June 17th Cal/OSHA met and changed the mandatory mask rule for employees in the state of California. Governor Newsom has enacted an executive order allowing for vaccinated employees to no longer wear a mask if they so choose. Therefore effective tomorrow, June 18th, our coaches who are vaccinated may choose to no longer wear a mask. Please note this is in accordance with all local and state laws and mandates.

  • July Meets:  While we do not expect any additional changes to our meet format in June, we are excited at new opportunities for our three in-person meets in July! We are still working on the exact details, but we do expect a progression towards a normal meet experience which may include relays and potentially a standard meet schedule and order of events, coming later in July! Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks as we work with each team to lock down the details.
